Kari Rae Seekins is an award-winning sound designer and composer. She holds a MFA in Sound Design and Integrated Media from CalArts, and a BFA in Design for the Theatre and Electroacoustic Composition & Music Technology from Concordia University in Montreal. She was named one of "The Nine Who Are Changing the AV Industry" by SCN Magazine in 2014.
Her sound designs and compositions have been shown in various museums, festivals, and theaters worldwide, including Sundance, Comic Con, Fernbank Museum of Natural History (Atlanta, GA), ZKM Museum of Contemporary Art (Karlsruhe, Germany), Jeu De Paume (Paris, France), Whitney Museum (NY, New York), and REDCAT (Los Angeles, CA.)
Kari has worked as a sound designer for Google, Thinkwell Group, Cirque Du Soleil, Nickelodeon, The Hettema Group, RIVA Creative U.S.A., Mycotoo, and the video game company Nix Hydra. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of California Irvine, CalArts, and Los Angeles Valley College as well as a guest lecturer at Harvard University and ArtCenter College of Art and Design in Pasadena. She has performed with the Los Angeles Improv Quartet, Pitch Like Masses and was a reoccurring member of the Cabeza De Vaca Orchestra. She currently works as a freelance sound designer in Portland, ME.
